Why This Book
A graphic that works on many levels, from the micro to the macro. You’ll see. Or you won’t.
Women are becoming men. Men are becoming women. I’ve been on this story for close to thirty years. I wrote a book called The Naked Woman which explored the subject from a male perspective. Now I’ve grown old, which — regardless of Viagra and other lies men tell themselves about themselves — is a feminizing experience. Simultaneously, women who are growing old become more masculine with every passing year. That’s an inherent trend of our species. It’s also a mirror trend reflected in the culture at large, one we’re seeing enacted on a global scale. Time to look at it from a female perspective? You bet.
The female mind. Call it the Undiscovered Country. But I’ve been exploring it from the inside for a change. It’s different. Not good. Not bad. Just different. And absolutely necessary. When you quit the male viewpoint, you start to see a kind of sense that makes sense of the great human consciousness experiment. They’re not right. We’re not wrong. But life makes no sense without both of us playing our very different roles.
People will be inclined to think this book is a satire. It isn’t. It’s an adventure, aiming for the truth. An attempt to incarnate as a female mind for as long as it takes to learn what’s happening to us and why our civilization is dying. As it most indubitably it is. Not their fault. Not ours. Just a fact we need to be aware of. A natural development that is dooming us. So sorry to break the news to you. Why this book had to be written.
We’ll be talking big topics here. Sex. Time. Meaning of Life. That kind of thing. I’ll be hard on men. Hard on women. Hard on the whole human species. Of whom I’m an adoring admirer. The best species we’ve ever heard tell of.
